Tyndrum Camp May 2008
I decided to have a run up to Tyndrum and test my tent before next months WEST HIGHLAND WAY.
I camped at the " By the way Hostel and Camp site!" great camp site with lots of facilities, and the management fell over themselves to please.
I done Beinn Odhar for the second time this year , the first time I climbed from the steep south slopes returning the same way, the weather was dreadful and i had trouble finding the cairn.
This time i walked from Tyndrum and followed the west highland way southwards towards Auchertyre Farm at Strathfillin. I then left the West highland way and headed north following the stream Alt Auchertyre up to the waterfalls. I went down and dipped my feet below the waterfalls. pity help any campers that were down stream drinking it after my feet were in it. I then rejoined the track headed north towards the old shielings.
it was just after the Sheepfold i decided to head Northeast for the shoulder of Meall Buidhe, and headed northwards and then Northwest passing Lochan Choir Dubh. then a boulder dash to the cairn.
The descent was fairly easy as i could see for miles and the sound of the road below made it near impossible to get lost. it was a diffrent story a few in april when i was here, when i had to use my navigational skills to the limit
I headed towards the small lochan ( Unnamed), then to the old mine. down to Crom Alt and then onto the West highland way ( North of tyndrum), and simply followed the path all the way back to the camp site.
Great walk beware coming down the boulder field try and keep clear of the boulders by keeping to the left of the lochan.
