Route: Glen Clova March 2007 NCR
Dykehead to Clova.
I walked With Brian And Mary. The weather was nice for us apart from some fog, we remained Dry unlike the other walkers who took alternative routes.
We Started from Dykehead Hotel and headed North-west following the Prosen road for about a kilometer, then we followed the Zig Zag Paths uphill to The “Airlie Monument” where we stopped for some refreshments. We then headed northwards to “The Goal” (the name of a Hill Just north of our position) and followed the Path along the ridge and over”Cairn Leith”. We Decided not to go down the “Ministers Path” If we did go down it would mean that it would be a long walk into Clova by road, instead we continued westwards down by “Elf Hillock” there is a SINGLE TRACK (VERY HARD TO FIND) it is marked by Purple coloured posts, again we stopped for a Break before heading into the woods. Once into the woods the path is easy to find and took us all the way down to the main road. At this point we followed the Purple posts OVER the road into a field and down towards the river “south Esk” a brand new bridge crosses over the river and the Purple posts continue all the way down to the Hotel at clova.
The Bridge is a new Feature over the river and gives good relief instead of plodding back via the tarmac roads and dodging traffic.
We arrived at the Hotel at about 2:30pm, the rain came on about 3:00pm onwards I for one was glad to have a nice short Trip, and sat smiling as the rest of our walkers made it back trying to get served at the bar to get as wet inside as they were out.
