Hillwalking > Caledonian

Route: Arrochar August 2006 ( Gargunnock Hills)

Summary

I decided to again to set out on a small walk, rather than go all the way up to loch Lommond and Arrohcar we chose the Gargguock Hills and onto kippen village.

The route Starts of on the A811 near the farm “Dasherhead Farm”, head south through the village of Gargunnock then turn left ( facing east) . Do not take the same route we took the wrong road, after about ˝ a kilometre take the second road to the right heading to Hillhead going south, the rain was fairly heavy but cleared up mid afternoon.
Follow the path all the way uphill, ( we passed a portacabin which was well equipped and a blessing to get out the rain) leave the path at GR NS 71255,92258 and head to the cairn of Calleatheran, this is ROUGH under foot the walk is marked as a LOW Level Walk, but felt more like a MID Level. Pick up the path passing StandMilane Craig follow it westwards and down hill to Lees Hill, down to the Spout of ballochleam turn northwards, And head down to Ballochleam. Turn right ( East) onto the B Road when you reach GR NS 67050,94521 turn Left ( West) into the woods pick up the Road to Kippen and end of walk.

Route Distance: 21.9 km
Estimated Time: 7:56
Total Ascent: 574 m
Total Descent: 513 m
