Other walks
Beinn Dhubchraig Sept 2009
I intended on doing Benn Dhubchraig and Beinn Oss from tyndrum . there are two routes to do this walk one comes from Dalrigh and the other from tyndrum. I chose the Tyndrum route as it was slighlty shorter.
Route: From Tyndrum I headed past the Lower train station and followed the path to Glen Cononish I then headed twards the farm . On route I met a man panning for gold in the river I stopped for a friendly chat then i headed over to the bridge crossing the river just short of the Farm.
I crossed over the bridge then i headed SouthEast crossing over a fence and onto the Ridge above creag bochan. Was a hard push up to the Lochans of Beinn Dubhchraig where I turned East and Up onto the Summit. The weather changed for the worse so I decided to retrace my route and not go Up Benn Oss instead I Simply Followed the route all the way back to the Coninish Farm . During my descent the weather got nicer and i was able to see something quite unusual on Beinn Chuirn just north of the farm I could make out what appeared to be a small Oil Driller. I also noticed that the Gold mine looked like it was back in operation. Last I heard was it closed so I chose to take a detour and investegate.
I passed the Oil rig by about 200yrds ( see Photos ) but the men working on it were obviously to busy to even notice me . I never found out what they were doing. I continued Up the Hill to the mine and was obviously open and operational. I passed the mine and went to see the gian water fall that pours down Alt Eas Anie. I then Back tracked to the farm and started heading back to Tyndrum passing the gold Panner who told me he had a couple of small flakes. but were that small they hardly could be seen by the naked eye. I then pased the game keepers on what looked like a moon buggy the game keeper had telescopic rife on his back , I did not tell them that I just passed a small herd of red deer.
The sun was shining all the way back to Tyndrum , and was enjoyable but tough day the weather could have been a touch better but there again this is SCOTLAND!.
